Come see the The Wizard Of OZ @ Brighton High School August5,6,8,12, & 13, produced by the Cottonwood Heights Arts Council with special arrangement from Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc. All shows start at 7PM. Pre-purchase (before August 1) ticket prices are $5 per person or $20 perfamily (members living under the same roof). Ticket prices at the door (and after August 1th) are $7 per person and $25 perfamily (members living under the same roof). Wizard of Oz
This summer, we'll be producing The Wizard of Oz! Auditions upcoming. Our wonderful producer, Melissa Lowry, has put together a website for the production, which they'll use throughout the production to announce auditions, cast list, and share some insider info throughout the production. Summer musical
We originally planned to produce "The Pirates of Penzance" this summer, but we've had a change of plan. We have chosen to produce "The Wizard of Oz." Keep watching for more info and audition announcements.

Write for the Heights
This year, we sponsored a literacy fair in cooperation with Whitmore Library and the County Library System. What a wonderful event! As this year's event comes to a close, we want to invite everyone to attend the pinnacle event of the literacy fair. This Saturday, Whitmore Library will host a conference to announce our contest winners and we will hear from three local authors. Here is our schedule for the event:
10:00-11:00--Contest winners will be announced. Poets will also be given an opportunity to read their work. Don't miss this! These poets are very talented!
11:00-12:30--Dystopian author Robison Wells will discuss his upcoming series with Harper Teen. Rob is a well known speaker among Utahn authors, and his wonderful blog is insightful and educational--a must read for aspiring authors. Plus, he's just a cool guy. You won't want to miss him!
12:30-1:30 break for lunch
1:30-3:00--Bree Despain, author of the wonderful werewolf series "The Dark Divine", will share her thoughts on the craft. I'm currently reading book 2 in this series. I haven't really been into the vampire/werewolf craze lately, but Bree has me hooked!
3:00-4:30--Children's author Mike Knudson will share his thoughts and experiences on writing for children. Mike has a fabulous sense of humor, which comes out in his books. My 11 year old loves him!
4:30-5:00--Author/event organizer Amy Wadsworth will share some tricks on how to find a critique group, editor, or writing coach--take that first step toward publication and let someone read what you've written!

Call for Resumes
CH Arts Council has chosen to produce "The Pirates of Penzance" by Gilbert and Sullivan during the summer of 2011! If you are interested in being part of the production team, send your resumes to amy.charts@gmail.com and let us know what your theatrical experience is. We will be choosing the main production team (director, music director, choreographer) on February 10, so send your resumes ASAP!
